Who is Charles Pierre aka Buzzfunk?
His earliest memory of playing music was at the tender age of 4 years old in his native Trinidad and Tobago. He picked up a cuattro and started strumming a calypso rhythm. After being taught a couple of chords, he was able to entertain dinner guests with his unique kiddy style musicianship, singing and playing early calypsos.
His fascination for rhythm began when a big red drum kit was brought into the house and he literally just picked up the sticks and started playing a basic rhythm, aged 5, (he did have the benefit of watching someone play them first for a couple minutes).
As the years went by he taught himself how to play several instruments and various bits of music technology until he was able to create full multitrack productions by the age of 16.
He was also fascinated by the plethora of analog synths that were available and became interested by the huge variety of sounds available, including the mighty Roland Jupiter 8, Prophet 5, Minimoog and Juno 60, Korg Polysix and several other classics, all of which still form a major part of his productions today.
His dream of being a professional musician was finally realized when a lucky break through him into the production limelight which lead to him working with such hugely successful acts as Soul II Soul, Londonbeat, Tribe Called Quest and many many others. As a singer, he has also worked with such greats as Babyface, Celine Dion, Michael Bolton, Vanessa Williams, Londonbeat and many others, traveling throughout Europe, the Middle East, Japan and South Korea.
He also had the benefit of working at some major recording studios in London (including Abbey Road) with major recording artists and record labels.
Having come full circle from producer to artist and now back to producer, his passion has never waned for a second and now thrives on pushing his boundaries to create uniquely crafted professionally produced instrumentals.
Every beat is carefully crafted from the ground up using the latest techniques. His love of music allows a “no holds barred” policy where anything goes, to try to stretch the imagination and inspire new and established artists.
